Why Choose Extreme Clean?

At Extreme Clean, we understand that dust, bird droppings, and air pollution can create a layer of grime that reduces your solar panels’ efficiency. Our specialised solar panel cleaning service in Johannesburg and the Vaal Triangle is designed to safely remove buildup without causing damage — ensuring maximum sunlight absorption and optimal performance.

The Cleaning Process

The company uses a multi-step process to ensure thorough and safe cleaning of your solar panels:

1. Assessment

Our cleaning crew will begin by assessing the condition of each panel to be cleaned and identifying how to clean specific areas that may require extra attention, such as heavy dirt accumulation or shading from nearby trees (often where those issues with bird droppings come from).

2. Pre-Cleaning Preparation

Any loose debris on the panels is brushed or blown off using soft brushes or air compressors to avoid scratching the panel surfaces.

3. Cleaning Solution Application

An eco-friendly, non-abrasive cleaning solution is applied to the panels using specialized equipment that ensures even coverage without excess water use.

4. Gentle Scrubbing

For more stubborn dirt and grime, a gentle scrubbing with soft brushes is used to dislodge the particles without damaging the sensitive panel surface.

5. Rinse

Panels are then thoroughly rinsed with deionized water, which prevents mineral deposits from forming, ensuring a streak-free finish.

6. Drying

A final air-drying process is employed to ensure that no water spots are left behind, leaving your panels sparkling clean.

7. Post-Cleaning Inspection

Technicians conduct a thorough inspection of the panels to ensure they are free of any remaining dirt or streaks and that there are no visible signs of damage. The entire process is completed with the utmost care.

Cost to Clean Solar Panels

The cost of professional solar panel cleaning services can vary based on the size and location of your panels. Typically, the cost works out to around R100 per panel. While this may seem like an additional expense, the benefits of improved efficiency, safety, and longevity make it a worthwhile investment.

Frequently Asked Questions - Solar Panel Cleaning Johannesburg

How often should I have my solar panels cleaned?

We recommend professional cleaning every 6–12 months, depending on your location and environmental factors. In high-dust or pollution areas, more frequent cleaning may be needed.

Will cleaning my solar panels really improve efficiency?

Yes. Dirt, dust, and debris can block sunlight and reduce your panels’ efficiency by up to 20%. Regular cleaning ensures you get maximum energy output.

Is your cleaning method safe for my panels?

Absolutely. We use purified water, non-abrasive cleaning tools, and SABS-approved eco-friendly products to protect your panels and maintain their warranty.

Do I need to be home during the cleaning?

Not necessarily. As long as we have safe access to your solar panels, our team can complete the job even if you’re not home.

Do you clean both residential and commercial solar installations?

Yes. We service homes, office buildings, factories, warehouses, and large-scale solar farms in Johannesburg and the Vaal Triangle.

Do you work on rainy or cloudy days?

Light rain won’t stop us, but for safety reasons, we may need to reschedule in cases of heavy rain, lightning, or strong winds.

Does Extreme Clean offer solar panel cleaning in Cape Town?

No. At present, our solar panel cleaning service is available only in Johannesburg and the Vaal Triangle. Our Cape Town branch offers a full range of other specialised cleaning services.
